Praise Team
I'm so excited...I finally get to hear my hubby sing in the praise team this Sunday!!! He had to go through a long process to get up there, but it's def worth it! You see, my church loves it when people make a joyful noise unto to Lord, but you have to have the right qualities to make that joyful noise up in front of an audience. :-)
A few months ago I kept bugging my hubby during worship time...I wanted him to be up on stage singing! (I love love love his voice!) So he thought about it and prayed about it and finally looked into what he needed to do to be a part of the praise team. He started attending the Wednesday night practices and the other members invited him back every week. Then he was sent a three page worship team application that he needed to fill out. Once he was done with that, they recorded his voice during practice and then sent it to him. They wanted him to listen to his voice, and pray again about joining the team. (In the past, people have listened to their voice and decided that they didn't have what it takes to be a part of the praise team.) Normally, after completing an application, they make you audition, but it was not so with my hubby! The team was also sent his voice track and they loved him so much, that they asked him to join without auditioning! So, this week is the first time he will up on stage singing during our worship time...and he even has a solo!!! I can't wait!!
Btw, I love the process you have to go through to be a part of the worship team. My church doesn't just let anyone be a part of the team just because they have the desire to sing or think that they are being called by God to sing. If the team doesn't accept you, then it just helps people realize that if they are being called by God to sing, then maybe they are being called to sing right there in their seat...or maybe they are being called to sing and help lead with the children's choir. Either way, I think it's a fantastic process and maybe more churches should have it as well.
Have a great weekend everyone...I know I will!

Well, it probably wouldn't work for a smaller church, but it works great for us PJ!

Let's just say BoN that being in the congregation is right where God has blessed me! :-)

The trick is implementing it in churches where it is not already in place.
I have brought the process to our church for consideration and they are interested, but worry about how to deal with existing members. It isn't worth 10 families leaving the church over sub-par singing.
If only they had had instituted this years ago!

I'm sure everyone loved his singing plus of course his voice.
Have a nice weekend.

That's great. Getting over stage fright isn't easy. He should be very proud.

What a great achievement. Singing is the highest form of worship and I am sure he has earned many credits up there by now.
When will you join him?
Happy Saturday!!!

What's the idea behind listening to himself sing on recording? Most people dont like the sound of them selves singing, even professional singers.

I hear ya Guru...maybe when a congregation gets a certain size they should relook at their ministry oppurtunities and change them to fit the need to the growing church.
They did FC, thanks!
He was very happy with his performance Cube!
Thanks DW!
Ummmm, never Viamarie...heehee!
He really does Barbara!!!
If you heard of crapping recording of yourself, would you stop singing for an audience WE?
