Michigan Trip

My hubby and I had a great trip away! After picking up our new glasses and dropping off our son, we headed towards Michigan at about 12:30pm. Almost four hours later, we made it to our hotel to check in before heading to the Jars of Clay/Third Day/Michael W. Smith concert. We had an awesome time!!! Jars rocked! My hubby and I knew most of their songs and it was great when they sang an old hymn. We def plan on buying their new album when it comes out.

Third Day was incredible as well! They had a great entrance, but the lead singer, Mac Powell, was sure to let us know that we were there to praise God together through worship. They also sang a few old hymns (rocked out of course!), and they had the arena on our feet. For one of the songs, Mac asked us all to get out of cell phones and wave them around (instead of lighters). It was really cool to see all the little blue lights out in the audience-it looked like a ton of fireflies! I def missed my Third Day buddy, PJ...she and I have been to a few concerts together, so I really missed her for this one!

Michael W was pretty boring compared to the other two bands. He just didn't have the energy of the younger guys. He had a great band, but he played his piano (without the band) for half of the songs. A lot of people left while he was still singing and we sat down for most of his performance. We ended up leaving when he started up his last song to get ahead of the traffic. But, overall, it was a great concert!

On Saturday, my hubby and I did some sightseeing around where our hotel was located. We went to a few malls and saw a must see movie (I'll post about it tomorrow). While driving around, we couldn't believe how many Coney places we saw. There was a different one on each street corner...they were everywhere! We did eat at one where I got the most delicious hamburger pita!

After a long day of Christmas shopping, we headed back to the hotel to swim in the indoor pool for a little bit. I was sure to get up early the next day to snag a few doughnuts from the continental breakfast eating area (we got there too late the day before to get any). After checking out, my hubby and I headed to the Hard Rock Cafe in Detroit (where I had one of the best salads I've ever had). It's kind of a tradition for us. Whenever we vacation anywhere near a Hark Rock, my hubby and I eat there. We've been to the Phoenix, Niagra Falls, Orlando, and Cleveland locations for name a few.

Then we got on a People Mover to see some really cool parts of the city. We had a great view of the water and Windsor, Ontario as well as a ton a neat parks throughout Detroit.

FYI, the state up North has def got some crazy ways! They have special u-turns spots in the road which was so weird since u-turns are illegal in Ohio. But I loved having the maximum freeway speed of 70mph. At some points, we were going 80 just to keep up with the flow of the traffic...it was fantastic!!!

I don't think my hubby and I plan on going back to Michigan anytime soon, although we really enjoyed our visit. And I love the fact that I found myself an OSU jersey while we were there! How great is that?!!!

(Btw, thanks Guru and Lo for watching the boy for us!!!)

I've had to visit Michigan for work a few times and was also thrown off by their no-left-turn lights. Weird, huh? I always had to go in the winter time, though, and wondered how much nicer it would be in the summer.
