Girl's Night In!

I'm so excited...tonight I get to spend some time with my great friend Princess Jemmers (PJ). We are getting to together to mix up some yummy taco salads and to watch a few chick flicks...and maybe talk while we are at it!!! It seems like forever since we have gotten together!

For those of you who don't know, PJ and I went to high school together. We had a graduating class of 8 people...and 3 of those were exchange students! So needless to say, our class was pretty tight! We were all great friends, but the only one I have been able to keep in contact with is PJ (the best one to keep in contact with of course!!!).

So, I can't wait to start my weekend! Anyone else have exciting plans for this weekend?

Trin's Thirteen

Thirteen things about Trinity13's life.

1. I slept much better last night.
2. I think it's because I spent sometime outside playing with my family yesterday evening.
3. I had a wonderful time swinging on our back porch swing while my hubby and boy played ball.
4. Then we got out a few frisbees and I had to remember how to correctly throw one!
5. I should start taking an evening walk...it would help with the baby weight gain and it might help me sleep better at night.
6. I haven't gained any more weight yet, but I don't fit into any more of my jeans or dress pants.
7. I now have to wear sweat pants, big shirts and/or maternity cloths.
8. I need to hit the thrift store again to get some more big shirts.
9. I have a ton of t-shirts, but they are all too short for comfort.
10. Plus, I really don't have many maternity shirts since I was last pregnant during the winter.
11. I have an ob appt. next week, but I think it's still too early to find out the sex (I hope I'm able to find out during my June appt!!)
11. Btw, happy birthday to my favorite nephew! He turned two yesterday!!!
12. I can't wait to help him celebrate his birthday at his party this Saturday!
13. I'm hungry for lunch already...what are you having for lunch today?

Money, Money, Money

I know I mentioned last week how my hubby works for a new company (and it not being his choice of course) and how our insurance will cost us a lot more per paycheck...but I think things are looking up. With this new company, he has the opportunity to actually work over-time! He could work up to 8 hours on Saturday (all o.t.) and when he is on call, he can record even more time! I know this means less time with the family, but we gotta be able to pay for all my ob appointments!

My hubby will also be mowing my parent's yard once a week. They had been paying someone else to do it, but they really weren't doing a good job...so they offered it up to my hubby! It's really good pay since their yard is huge. Plus, whenever we go over to my parents house, we usually get feed. So, that's one less weekly meal I have to worry about! :-)

So, I think we are def going to get through this! I'm excited in what the future holds for our family and I can't wait to see how God is going to bless us again!

Thanks for your comment. I do see your point... guess I'm just weird.Hope it works out for ya. I've been asking God for a little help myself lately. So my husband's daughter has moved back in with us to try to save money to get back on her feet after her disasterous moneypit experience with the house she was renting. She'll be helping us by paying a little rent so maybe we can save up some money, too. Funny how God sends things your way!

Tired

I am oh so tired today...and have been tired for the past two weeks. Even if I take a 90 minute nap in the afternoon, I'm still exhausted! I haven't been sleeping well and I'm usually awake every hour of the night. I've tried different positions with no luck on sleeping better.

I just don't know what to do. I yawn all day, but when it comes to sleep time, I'm wide awake. I will finally fall asleep just to be awake again an hour later. It's driving me nuts!!! I just want to sleep!!!

So sorry if I have been neglecting on my comments...I just want to use my normal computer time to nap instead. Argh, I'm turning into a bad blogger! :-(

Hmmmm!!!

My family had a pretty great weekend! We had our favorite pizza Friday night...Little Caesars! But unfortunately, right now I'm not a big fan of pizza (I hope this changes after October)...so I had a meal of their yummy crazy bread! Hmmmmm!!!

I got to sleep in a little on Saturday while my hubby helped a friend clean up his pool. Then both guys came over with some steaks to grill...so good!!! We also made up some toast, eggs, and fried potatoes to go with it! Hmmmmm!!!

After our lunch, my mom picked up my son and I and we headed over to a birthday party. After the party, we then went to a Tastefully Simply taste-testing party! The samples were fantastic!!! We got to taste several different kinds of dips on different pieces of homemade bread. They also had a few desserts to try...the key lime cheese ball! Hmmmmmm!!! (Btw, while we were there, there was a woman who came rather hungry...I guess! She stacked her plate high with the samples!!! It was hilarious to see! And then she went back to seconds!!! I guess she doesn't understand what a sample is!)

Then yesterday, for Sunday lunch, I surprised my hubby with a roast that had been cooking all morning. He just thought he smelled the garlic in the leftover pizza boxes...but no, it was the onion topping on my roast! He was thrilled to be wrong!!! Hmmmmm...roast!!!

So, if you can guess, I had a wonderful, yummy food filled weekend! How was your weekend?

New Company

As some of you know, my hubby works for the same company that we rent our home through. Well last week the company sold this property and all it's workers to another smaller company. So, my hubby had to fill out a new application and a ton of paperwork to get set up in the new company.

Here's the thing...with these new employers, my hubby now gets really crappy, expensive insurance. We now have to pay about $100 more a paycheck for less coverage. Excuse my french, but it sucks...especially since we have a new baby coming soon!!! Right now we are not sure how we are going to be able to afford this (except through the grace of God!) since our rent might be going up as well. With my hubby being the rm (resident manager), we get a huge discount on our rest. But with this new company, we might have to start paying about $200 more a month.

We are praying that my hubby will hopefully get the 20% off employee discount in rent as well as the rent concessions for being a rm. If this happens, we will be paying about $50 less a month in rent...so maybe then the increase in insurance cost won't sting as much! I guess only time will tell.

Anyway, have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!

Insurance is the pits today. We don't even have any. Surely there is a better, cheaper way?! Hope your landlords do a better job of taking care of their property than mine does.

Care Group

My hubby and I went to our care group for the first time last night. It was def not what I was expecting! We had to be there at 6:30...which is not an easy task for us since my hubby doesn't even get off of work till 6 (and we had to eat beforehand). But after dropping off our son at his Papaw's, we were only 10 minutes late. Once we got to our group, we got to meet several nice couples and had about 20 minutes of small talk. Then we had about 35 minutes of Bible discussion while following a worksheet. And I've got to say, I'm really glad my hubby was there! He asked some good, discussion worthy questions. It made the group think and helped a few to get more involved with the group.

I thought the group would go till about 8:30-9pm, but we ended up leaving around 7:45. My hubby and I didn't know what to do with ourselves since we had a babysitter till 9:30 (I still don't understand why last nights get together was so short).

I'm not sure if I want to go back or find a new group. I was a little bored last night, but I guess it could be that way with any group we tried. I'm not even sure it was worth going to! It was nice meeting everyone, but maybe they weren't as outgoing since there were new people at their group...I don't know. But I think I'll give it one more week. Why not?!

7
Blogger G said...

Yes. I think we should go back, because it is impossible to get a good feel for a new group of people in 1 hour. It was a little boring at first, but I still enjoyed the time.

Blogger Jana said...

Sounds like there was some good discussion. Plus, you can't knock "adult time." It's always good to get together with other grownups!

April 19, 2006 10:16 AM

Blogger Pete said...

Yeah, give them at least one more week. But, the adult time novelty can wear off if the people are are mad crazy boring. But, I'll bet that isn't the case if they get a chance.

whether the Bible discussion was any good, that is to be determined by the participant, I think.

Tagged!

Wow, it's been a while since I've been tagged...but just that was done by Miss Viamarie yesterday, so here goes:

Name ten of life's simple pleasures that you like most. Try to be original and creative and not to use things that someone else has already used.

1. Taking a long, uninterrupted shower
2. Taking a long, uninterrupted nap
3. The smell of clean laundry
4. Seeing my son clean his plate and hearing him tell me that he loved whatever I made
5. Seeing my hubby smile and laugh...as long as it's not at me!
6. Hearing back to back songs on the radio that I know the words to
7. Getting all green lights when I travel somewhere
8. Being able to afford a dinner out with my family
9. Cuddling with my cat at night
10. Knowing the recipe to no-bakes

Easter Sickness

Last Saturday my hubby and I went out together, which meant that my mom got to watch my son! She loves getting her grandson fix, and he, of course, loves getting spoiled by her! But my hubby and I ended up getting a call from Grammie around 7 saying that my son had just gotten sick twice. She thought that he possibly just had too much chocolate milk and she told us to just go ahead and have a nice evening out. Well when the hubby and I got back over to her house (about 9:30), we found out that the boy had thrown up water as well. Then he got sick again before we left her house.

So, for the first time in 26 years, I didn't go to an Easter service. We decided that it would be best to keep my sick son home since we think he caught my 24 hour flu bug. The boy ended up getting sick again that morning, so I'm glad we were at home. But, I decided to go ahead and still have our family gathering at our house. I had all the food and my house was clean, so I really didn't want to cancel. Plus, my son would be much more comfortable here than being sick someplace else.

After lunch, the boy laid himself down for a nap...so he really wasn't around much to expose people to his sickness. But, he is much better now! He has def gotten over the sickness and he is back to his normal, ornery self!

I hope you had a great, and healthy, Easter!!!

Short Day

I've got a nice, short day with the boys today. Their mom is getting off at 4, as well as my hubby, so I'll be able to get a head start on cleaning. I need to mop or vacuum all the floors, clean the bathrooms, and pick up a little of the kitchen. My hubby and I are hoping to finish all the cleaning by tonight so we can relax the rest of the weekend! Although, Easter Sunday won't be very restful for me. We are expecting 14 people over here for lunch, so I have a lot of baking to do after church. I've got to make a green bean casserole, au gratin potatoes, deviled eggs, and sweet potatoes before we eat at 1pm.

Btw Texas, yes, I am piercing my mom's ears by myself (she has given me 4 of my 6 piercings, so it's only fair!). She has a special piercing gun that she uses when her customers (at her beauty salon) want new ear, and sometimes belly-button, piercings. It looks kind of like this:

Image hosting by Photobucket

We will be taking a black pen and marking where she wants her new holes. Then we slide the special piercing earring into the gun. And then I will aim...and shoot (x 2)!!! I can't wait!

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Thursday13

Thirteen things about Trinity13's life.

1. I really don't feel good today.
2. I think I got the flu bug that my red-heads and their parents had.
3. I got sick late last night (which is really unusual for me), and I threw up the only thing I ate this morning...two Tums.
4. Fortunately, it's only a 24 bug, so I should be feeling my normal prego self tonight...but I hope my son and hubby don't get it!!!
5. Btw, I think my parents have gone crazy!
6. My dad bought himself a crotch-rocket (a low riding motorcycle) yesterday.
7. My mom never wanted him to ride again after his near fatal motorcycle crash that happened about 20 years ago.
8. But I guess she was finally tired of him bugging her.
9. So this Saturday I am double piercing her ears.
10. My dad has never wanted her ears double pierced, but since he now has a bike, she is getting two more holes in her ears!
11. She also got herself a little Yorkshire Terrier puppy last night!!!!
12. She gets lonely at nights since she is home by herself (my bro works till 12-1 am and my dad spends a lot of time at their church...he also has to leave for work at 10:30 pm).
13. I think they are both going through a mid-life crisis/empty nesting time!!! I don't know what they are thinking anymore!!!

A Blessing

Last night my hubby and I were able to join our cell group and a few other church members at a downtown soup kitchen. Our church group made like 5 pounds of spaghetti, and bought a ton of bread, lettuce, and cookies to feed around 80 homeless and less fortunate people (I was not expecting to see children there...but when 5 came in, it made me tear a little). I volunteered to serve a table a hungry men (most of us each had our own table that we were in charge of). I got their drinks as well as their plates of food (that my hubby helped put together) and then I got them seconds, or thirds with my table, of the yummy food!

It was a real blessing to me to be able to help out. I had never done anything like that before! It was just so wonderful to see their dirty faces light up as we brought out the hot food. The experience has made me feel that much more appreciative of the things and people I have in my life!

A Little Bit Of Freedom

Today I'm only watching the youngest red head. His older brother is sick at home with his daddy...they are both cookie tossing! :-)

So anyway, I only have two kids today! I feel so free!!! I can't believe being down one boy has made me feel this way! I just want to get out!!! We can do so many things today that I normally can't do with three boys 4 and under. I need to run to the grocery store to buy a few Easter Sunday items and I would love to hit a few thrift stores to find some maternity clothes (I was able to run to a few thrift stores last night, but a lot of them close really early...but I was able to find two pairs of really cute jeans at $3 a piece!). We could go to the park or even take a walk around the neighborhood!!! There are just so many things we could do today!!!

I'm off to enjoy the sunshine and nice weather...before nap time!

Taxes...Check!

My hubby and I were able to finally work on our taxes for a few hours last night! After putting in how much I earned in child care for last year, we were most definitely in the negative. We were expecting to have to pay, but that was a lot of money! Then we started putting in all my deductions. I saved just about every grocery receipt from last year, and I was able to add up all the items that I used with/for the boys (like certain foods, detergent, and dishwasher soap). We also were able to claim some of our utilities (like part of our electric bill since they enjoy watching a little TV every day) and part of my car and the mileage! I saved all the receipts from gifts I had given them as well as the receipts from the times I took them all out to eat. So now, after all the deductions, we are in the positive!!! We are actually getting money back this year...I'm so excited!!!

Btw, would you please remember to pray for my good friend PJ today?! You can read all about what she is going through here. Thanks everyone!!!

Blogger Pete said...

Congratulations. That makes all that hard work and effort worthwhile. Also, kudos to you for making a plan to keep all of those receipts and stuff (and actually doing it) that made all of it possible.

(((PUKE)))

The oldest red head has thrown up twice now this morning...and I had to clean it up of course! This is not good since the smallest things have made me gag-like brushing my teeth and smelling cheese. So, I had to breath with my mouth open to not get sick as well. This is so not good times!!! But, I think he just ate/drank something this morning at his home that disagreed with his stomach. I don't think his mom needs to pick him up, so I hope all that yuckiness is out of his little belly!!!

On a side note, we will be moving my 97 year old great grandpap into an assisted living home tomorrow. He has been living by himself, in his own apartment, and still driving his car since my grandma passed away in '95. But he finally got off a waiting list (kind of sad if you think about what had to of happened for him to be moved up on the list) and will be living in a place much, much closer to his last living child-my great aunt. We all hope that he will be able to adapt to his new surroundings since he hates being taken care of...and he's really stubborn!

Any special plans this weekend?

T13's T13

Thirteen things about Trinity13.

1. I didn't have time to be online very long yesterday since I had a doctor's appointment.
2. My lovely mom watched the boys for me...she's so sweet!
3. I have had an appointment with my o.b. coordinator and an ultrasound tech, but yesterday was my first appointment with the doctor.
4. She ended up not being able to find the baby's heartbeat with her Doppler, so she gave me an ultrasound!
5. After a minute or two, she finally found the little one and the hubby and I were able to take home a picture of him (or her!).
6. I think my belly is bruised from the doctor pushing so hard on my belly...she had a lot of baby protection (aka fat) to go through to find the baby.
7. After my appointment, I went back to my mom's where she made me lunch! (Have I mentioned how sweet she is?).
8. Then the boys and I headed back home for our nap...I love nap time!!!
9. Last night my family went to our first Wednesday night service at our church.
10. They meet the first Wed of every month for a potluck, a short service, and communion.
11. I love it that they don't have communion on Sunday mornings...I think it can put visitors in an awkward position.
12. So we had some great food and fellowship last night!!!
13. And it was wonderful taking communion again...I haven't taken it for over a year!

Checking Accounts

My parents called me last night saying they found the perfect Easter outfit for my son...that is if I didn't already have one. My dad even said that he would pay for it! Now after hearing this, I knew that it must be something special. Since my parents have separate checking accounts, my dad doesn't buy very often. It's a shock to me to hear him say that he is paying. He has his bank account, that his pay check goes into, and my mom has hers. He takes care of his truck payment, as well as his tithe, and a few other bills. My mom pays for everything else including groceries and a majority of the restaurant checks. She just has a much more dependable paycheck since my dad never knows how much special duty he will have for the week.

So anyway, I knew this outfit must be pretty special since my dad was actually offering to pay! He just loves telling us that he doesn't have any money...when in fact he usually has at least $500 in his checking. If it drops below this, he is "poor". Crazy man!!!

Btw, my hubby thinks it's weird to have separate checking accounts. We put all our money in the same account. Now I bring in less of course, but it's still all of our money. We depend on each other to get the bills paid, and we couldn't imagine having "his" money and "her" money.

Am I alone on this? Do you and your honey have separate accounts? Do you put everything together? Do you think it's okay for a couple to have separate accounts if both of them work? What are you thoughts?

14
Blogger Oh great One said...

We haven't had seperate accounts since we were dating! He makes the money and I take care of making sure the bills are paid. I have never understood the idea of my money and your money. It wouldn't work at our house!

April 04, 2006 1:47 PM

Blogger loelsh said...

We had seperate accounts for a while when we were both working at different banks. I'm not sure about him, but I know the bank I worked for required their employees have an account at their bank and get direct deposit.

However, we had both names on both accounts, so we actually just had 2 joint accounts. We each had certain things we would each pay for out of our accounts, like I would pay the mortgage, the kids' tuition and my gasoline and he would pay the car payments and all the other bills.

For me it was easier to keep track of things. My checkbook was always balanced to the penny while guru would wait for the statement and check things over.

Now that I'm not working, we just have one checking account. He makes the money, and I spend it. :)

April 04, 2006 2:09 PM

Blogger Pete said...

Like Lo said, we had separate accounts at one time because of work requirements, and paid bills because of how much each one of us made, but the idea was always that money would be tranferred together to pay something if need be. It was never my money or her money.

In fact, when she left that bank, we began the transition to one account where we are now.

I don't see the point of a married couple each keeping their own money. I also don't see the point of the man not taking the initiative to pay for the woman whenever possible.

I guess people are just different. No condemnation on your parents, because I know them and know they aren't like this, but in general I think that it gives the feeling that the couple isn't going "all in" to the marriage if they still divy up money and things as if they were only roommates.

April 04, 2006 2:45 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think what ever works for that couple is great. For us, we have a joint account.

April 04, 2006 2:46 PM

Blogger Becky said...

When I was married, we had separate accounts b/c my Ex couldn't manage money or funds properly and I didn't trust him to make the "big" payments on time. His parents thought it was weird and that our money "fights" were a direct result of having separate accounts. But, when your spouse doesn't balance his checkbook and spends as he pleases, what else can you do? If I get married again and my spouse and I are alike, then I think it would make sense to have just one account.

April 04, 2006 3:11 PM

Blogger Unknown said...

All of our accounts are together. Though I am seriously considering getting the Deputy his own account. He is always asking me "How much can I have?" or "Can I spend this amount?" Drives me nuts. So I thought I would get him his own account so he can spend what he has...

April 04, 2006 3:53 PM

Blogger Unknown said...

We have one joint account, it's been that way since we were married. I can understand separate in some circumstances, like if a spouse is irresponsible with money.

April 04, 2006 9:47 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

we've had a joint account since before we were married, as soon as we were buying our first home, that's when we did it. we have no money in our joint account, i suppose if we each had our own account, we'd have two accounts with no money.

April 04, 2006 9:50 PM

Blogger Leslie said...

We don't do the 'his' money and 'her' money either. One account that all bills are paid from.

April 05, 2006 12:00 AM

Blogger Jen said...

We have had a joint account since before we were married. Then we made so little money there was no point in separating it. Now it just makes sense so we both have easy access to everything.

April 05, 2006 2:04 AM

Blogger Viamarie said...

Now since my hubby retired, we have a joint account. Years ago, we put together our salaries and start paying bills and put aside a certain percent for savings which go to our joint account and the rest we divide equally and we each put it into a separate account. This arrangement has worked well so I guess it all depends on what the couple agrees upon at the start of their marriage.

I'm glad you came back to my site and didn't think I was a weirdo when I commented the other day that every once in a while my boys still see me naked!

BTW: This is a thought: You would think they would demand for this to stop! (lost 45 lbs., 3 kids.....you know the story!)

Anyway, we have one account, I don't work, but even when I did we only had one.

I guess whatever works for a couple so they are not fighting and feel like they are on the "same page" about their finances. I don't think separate accounts = not having like-minds about finances. If you do it and don't trust each other...then I think there's a problem....just my opinion.

I like how you ask people's opinions on your site! Gives you food for thought.........

WifeGeeding and I have three accounts. One for her, one for myself, and one that we put money into to pay the bills. That way if we wanted to buy a gift for one another in secret or whatever, no clues are left around. We think of it this way, we earn the money we work for, so other than sharing the responsibility of bills, we have the right to spend as we wish.

I'm Back

Sorry, I usually post earlier than this, but I was so tired this morning. I got the sick baby down (about 7:30) and since my son wasn't up yet, I took a morning nap. It was wonderful, but I'm still exhausted. I just want to sleep!!!

We had a pretty good weekend. The band that my hubby is involved in had a special concert on Saturday. They were wonderful! The band sounded fantastic (thanks to sound man Guru), and my hubby did an excellent job singing and playing the guitar. I'm looking forward to hearing it again since the performance was recorded.

(My hubby is in blue on the right.)

We also had some very yummy food at the concert. My son and I filled up on veggies, meatballs, cheese, and crackers. Then we had cookies and hot chocolate for dessert!!! Hmmmm, so good!

My son did really well while his daddy was playing on stage. The boy kept quiet (well, most of the time!), and played with the toys I brought for him. He really had a great time!!!

Have a great Monday everyone!
