Dime A Dog Night

A group of us were able to go to a Columbus Clipper baseball game last night(thanks again Lo for watching the boy for us). We had such a good time! I had coupons for buy one get one reserved seat, so my hubby and I saved $6.50 from the start. Then, we got our hotdogs for only a dime a piece...they are regularly $2.50!!! We were only allowed to get 5 per person per visit, so we got our 10 dogs and headed to our seats. And we had some great seats! We were right behind a bar(instead of seats, so we had plenty of foot space) and were able to look down and see everyone heading in and out of the game.

My hubby inhaled 9 dogs to my 5 while my fil had himself 11 dogs! And the hotdogs were soooo good! Then my hubby and I had some delicious ice cream cones. And oh yeah, we watched part of the game...along with people watching!

The Clippers ended up winning after having a triple play! It was a great time had by all! I hope to head out to the game at least one more time this summer.

Life is grand with dime a dog night!!!

I think guru's employer is having a clippers night next month, can't wait to go. Dad called me last night and he mentioned that he ate 11 dogs! I thought he was kidding at first. I was like "DAD!!! That's not good!" Then he said "Well, I didn't eat breakfast or lunch...." ARGH! At least it isn't an everyday occurance!

Home

Our weekend away at the family reunion had a great start. All of us got to the hotel safely(after a 2.5 hour drive), had a good swim in the pool, and then had Pizza Hut for dinner. The next day my father-in-law, niece, son, hubby, and myself all went out to the nearby mall. We caught an early showing of the new movie Herbie(cute, good for kids...little boring in parts, but my son loved the cars) and found some good clothing deals in the large mall. After shopping, we picked the grandparents up and went over to Red Lobster for dinner.

While us young ones were swimming again that night, the grandparents visited with the family and then granddad went back to the room. When my grandma(in-law) went to check on him, he was convulsing and wasn't breathing very well! The ambulance was called and I kept my niece and son at the pool to not worry them. Granddad was taken to the hospital and my hubby, fil, and grandma followed the squad to the local hospital.

The three of them got back to the hotel room hours after I put the kids to sleep. My hubby told me how granddad was still on the ventilator at the hospital, but he was doing much better. The next morning we all had breakfast and then grandma, my fil, and my hubby went back to the hospital. I waited for word from them as I watched tv with the kids in the hotel room. We were finally called and then we headed to the hospital to meet the rest of the family.

Granddad was off the ventilator and was sitting up. He didn't understand what had happened and wasn't even sure where he was. We found out later that the hospital wanted to keep him one more night before transporting him back to Columbus. I decided to go ahead and head back home with the kids(they really didn't need to be there with granddad in that condition). They rest of them stayed one more night in the hotel(but grandma was called back to the hospital to stay with granddad all night-he wasn't doing well with being by himself).

So, granddad is finally back in Columbus in a nearby hospital. My hubby and fil followed the ambulance that transported him as grandma rode with him. They got back around 2 pm yesterday. My son and I went over yesterday to visit with him and to pick my hubby up from the hospital(since he drove grandma's van home).

Granddad is not expected to be released from the hospital at all today, but he almost back to his normal self. He is joking around and smiling again. He should be okay.

It definitely made for an interesting reunion and get-a-way. But I guess life is grand that way!

And We're Off!

Today my hubby, boy, and I are heading to a family reunion. It's for my grandma-in-laws side of the family, so it should be a blast!(Don't ya love sarcasm...heehee!) She has been asking for us to go for several years now and this year we were actually free to go. We are leaving in just a few hours and we won't be back till Saturday afternoon. It should make for a nice, short trip...especially since there is an indoor heated pool at the hotel we are staying at. And, the hotel also has continental breakfast!!!

I am actually looking forward to getting out of the house for a few days. It seems like it's been forever since my hubby and I have taken a trip anywhere together...it's just too bad we have to share a room with my father-in-law.

Life is grand with a 2 day vacation!!!

Another Joke

My father-in-law sent this too me and I had to share!

Three little boys were concerned because they couldn't get anyone to play with them. They decided it was because they had not been baptized and didn't go to Sunday School. So they went to the nearest church. Only the janitor was there.

One little boy said, "We need to be baptized because no one will come out and play with us. Will you baptize us?"

"Sure," said the janitor. He took them into the bathroom and dunked their heads in the toilet bowl, one at a time. Then he said, "Now go out and play."

When they got outside, dripping wet, one of them asked, "What religion do you think we are?"

The oldest one said, "We're not Catholic, because they pour the water on you."

"We're not Baptist, because they dunk all of you in the water."

"We're not Methodist, because they just sprinkle you."

The littlest one said, "Didn't you smell that water!"

"Yeah! What do you think that means?"

"I think it means we're Pisscopalians."

Movin!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of helping my sister pack up her apartment belongs. She has finally decided to get a townhouse closer to me and the parents. She is actually moving right across the street from my mom's hair salon. It's not going to cost her anymore a month, but the bedrooms are smaller. She does get a basement in the new one and she is excited to fill it up!

We worked hard last night! I can't even tell ya how many times I went up and down her apartment stairs. And it's a good thing too...I had to work off the frosty I had for dinner.

She has so many things for only being 22 years old! Every room in her apartment was decorated. Not only did we have to pack everything up, but we had to get all the nails out of the walls. Then later, my sis has to clean the apartment before moving out! Most complexes do that for you...but not this one! Crazy I tell ya!!!

Life is grand with a good workout!

I didn't realize my radar detector was off

Wow, you must've been doing about 120 to keep up with me

My taxes pay you're salary

Hmmmm, I thought you had to be in pretty good shape to be a cop

My license? Sure, mind holdin my beer while I get it out? (As far as I know this is still acceptable in Texas and West Virginia)

Loved you in the village people

You aren't going to search the trunk are you?

I'm just trying to keep up with traffic. I know I'm the only one here.......that's how far ahead the rest of the cars are.

You wouldn't know anyone in need of a dozen "hot -n- now" donuts would you?

O.K. , so you caught me speeding, wanna try best out of three?

Pretend to be gay, ask him out.

When he says no, cry.

If he says yes, accuse him of sexual harassment.

After you sign the ticket, hand it back and ask for another copy because you signed the wrong name.

Bet you can't keep up with me now that your on foot. (Drive away)

Batman Begins

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

My hubby and I got to see Batman again last night(my hubby and I saw it for the first time last Wed night) with my dad. He was dying to see it, so him, my bro, sis, hubby, and I went over to Easton to catch the 8:00 showing. He surprised us by paying for all the tickets and then my brother treated us with icees!!!

This movie was awesome! I loved the story because it explains so many things(and it's not comic booky). The movie shows you how the batsuit was put together along with why Bruce Wayne chose the bat as a symbol to begin with. And, this version of Batman had a few new and wonderful characters...Richard Earle(Rutger Hauer) who becomes head honco at Wayne Enterprises after Bruce's parents are killed and Lucius Fox(Morgan Freeman) who knows everything technical(especially proto types) made by/for Wayne Enterprises.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I think this might be my favorite Batman movie so far just because of the excellent script. As far as Batman's go, I still love Michael Keaton! He will always be my favorite just like Sean Connery will always be my favorite Bond.

This movie is a must see! The villains are great and Christian Bale kicks some serious butt!

I can't wait to see this one. Glad to hear it is good. We have similar movie tastes (Matrix, Star Wars) so I'm sure I'll love it.

I'm with on Sean Connery as the best Bond too! Actually, I just like Sean Connery, even if he is old enough to be my father! :)

Father's Day

I just wanted to give a shout out to my hubby G. Today he is celebrating his third Father's Day. He is a wonderful, caring father who loves to spend time with our son. G would do anything for that little boy(as most father's would for their children).

I just wanted to let him know that I appreciate everything he does. Thank you G for reading to our son. Thank you G for teaching the boy, just this weekend, how to pee like a man. Thank you G for NEVER complaining when you had to change his diapers when he was a baby or when you now have to take him to the big boy potty. (I could go on and on, but we are too busy celebrating!)

The funniest thing just happened...my son said he was tired, so he laid down in his bed. He did this without me asking him to. It was all on his own and now he is asleep!!! He put himself to sleep? Who is this kid? I knew he was tired because we helped the grandparents with their garage sale today, but who would think that he would decide to lay himself down for a nap(and he only takes a nap maybe 3 times a week)?!!! Crazy I tell ya!

Long Day

I was up early this morning to go work at the autistic boy's house. I had to be there at 7 to work my 8 hour shift. And let me tell ya, it was not a good time. The boy did all right for most of the morning, but then after his noon meds, he went a little crazy. He started stemming and got violent with me and on himself. He was biting, kicking, hitting, and he would not calm down for anything. He would eventually relax, but it wouldn't last for long. He had several more fits(including one where he broke a glass candle holder...what a mess!) before my shift was over.

This is getting to be an common occurrence when I watch him. But, at least I am getting better with handling it. I know how to work on getting his mind to focus on appropriate tasks. It's a slow process, but we will get through this. And, I hope that when his Stack program(a summer program/type of school for autistic children) starts next week, we will be able to get through a day with no problems.

After my long day, it was nice to relax in the hot tub at the home where my sis is house sitting. She turned on the jets and turned the temp way up! It felt so good to just relax with a few friends. (And thank you G for watching the boy!)

Life is grand after a relaxing few hours in a hot tub!!!

Shedding

Because I burned so bad a few days ago, my back it now peeling. It itches and is driving me crazy!!! The problem is that I can't reach back that far to mess with my peeling skin...and I know, that's gross!

This always happens when I get burned(and I get burned since I can't reach my back to put the sun block on in the first place)! It's a vicious cycle that will never go away. Like I've said before, maybe I should just never leave my house...either that or swim with a shirt on(not comfortable, so not really an option).

Maybe I should invest in a back scratcher.

5
Blogger loelsh said...

You could have your sis put some sunscreen on your back for you.

Blogger Trinity13 said...

Since it was raining when we first got in the pool, we didn't put any on. We then left the pool not far after the sky cleared. So, I didn't think it was worth putting it on when we would soon be leaving...I was wrong.

But, from now on I will have my sis(or whoever is with me) put on the beloved sunblock!

June 15, 2005 6:15 PM

Blogger Oh great One said...

They have a new spray sunblock now. I have seen it in commercials. Not the pump kind but a spray! I bet that would help get those hard to reach areas!

June 16, 2005 12:31 PM

Blogger loelsh said...

Yeah, You still get something like 80% of the uv rays when it's cloudy, so make sure to wear block even if it's cloudy. Check this out

I tried that continuous spray sunscreen and it was great for getting those hard to reach places, however it doesn't last that long. It wasn't really worth $6.50 to me for 2 trips to the pool.

June 16, 2005 9:49 PM

Blogger Trinity13 said...

Right, I have known for years now that you can actually get burned faster on cloudy days...but like I said, it was raining for crying in the mud! Who would think that I would get burned while it was raining! Crazy!!!

And I do have a pump kind that you don't have to rub in, but I still can't get my back. Just too hard to reach...my back's to fat(heehee)!

But from now on(this summer) I will be more careful. I always get burned at the beginning of each summer...sun block or not. :-(

But, thank you everyone for your great comments!

Busy Day

I had such a busy day today, but at least I didn't have to watch the red head. He is at his grandma's all week. So today it was just me, the boy, and a pile of laundry. I had a lot of washing to do since I don't do laundry over the weekend. It's just too much of a hassle. My hubby and I are busy enough without having to do things around the house.

Speaking of the weekend, my hubby and I had a good time playing match-maker. I have been wanting to do this for my sis for a while now. She has wanted to get married ever since she was old enough to say I do...but just hasn't found the right guy. Being the good sister that I am, I felt it was my job to step in and help her out a little. So, when I found out that my hubby had a single Christian co-worker, I wanted to make some things happen.

This co-worker of his has plenty of money since he rooms with two other guys and wants more in life than video games. He has told my hubby that he is able to go out to eat whenever he wants and is able to buy whatever his heart desires...but he said that it wasn't making him happy. He wants someone to share his life with and only then would he be truly content.

This guy may be a little older than my sis(he is 30, she is 22), but he is very sweet and he has a personal relationship with the big Guy in the sky. (And he is proud of the fact that he is still a virgin! What a find!)

So anyway, my hubby and I(okay, mostly I) decided to hook these two up. We set up dinner and movie for the four of us. We ended up treating it like a meet and great and not a date. But, at least they both had fun and they want to see each other again!!!

I am so excited for my sis. She had such a good time dressing up and getting ready to met someone new. And then for her to like him(and like the look of him)!!! Ohhh, I hope this works our for her! This is so exciting and I'm not even the one being hooked up!

Ahhh, life is grand right now!

Another Pointless, But Fun Color Quiz

You are darkgreen #006400
Your dominant hue is green. You're logical(that's me...part-Vulcan) and steadfast, focused on figuring life out and doing what makes sense(again, so me). You value being trusted because you know you're taking the time to figure things out and everyone should just follow you.

Your saturation level is very high - you are all about getting things done. The world may think you work too hard but you have a lot to show for it, and it keeps you going. You shouldn't be afraid to lead people, because if you're doing it, it'll be done right.

Your outlook on life is slightly darker than most people's. You try to see things for what they are and face situations honestly. You'd rather get to the point than look for what's good. (So true!)

The Fabulous Color Quiz

Red

After working with the autistic boy this morning, I met up with my sister and son to go swimming. We had a great time and now my son is even more comfortable with the water. He jumped in a few (hundred times), and even once when my sis and I were not ready to catch him...that's when I screamed and my sis grabbed him out of the water. They crazy kid came out smiling!!! He thought it was so funny. Good grief, he scared us!

We spent a few hours outdoors and now I am hurting. I always get burned very easily, even with a think coating of sun block on. I just shouldn't go out at all! It would def reduce my high chance for skin cancer.

On a side note, my crazy hubby went out and bought me the Lois and Clark season 1 DVD's! I told him that I actually didn't plan on buying it for another few months using ebay(and after the price went down). But he decided to ignore this(and the sarcasm from this post) and tried to please his wife.

I guess life is grand that way!

Lois And Clark

Well, it's finally out!!! Lois and Clark is finally out on DVD!!! And not a holiday(for me) in site. :-(

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Ahhh, life is grand when Lois and Clark comes out on DVD for only $41.88 at the 24 hour Walmart that is only 5 min away from my house. It's located back in the electronics section that is In between the sporting goods and photo lab. And, it's in with the collector DVD's on the second shelf from the top. So, in case anyone who reads this and is married to me would like to buy it for me as a surprise kind of gift, I would be MOST gracious.

Tuesday

Starting today, my son gets to spend every Tuesday this summer with his cousins and favorite aunt Lo(thanks again for your willingness to do this!). I will definitely miss him!!! I am used to seeing him all week(except for when my mom watches him on Wed night/Thurs mornings). This is quite a change for both of us. But, he will be just fine. He loves spending time with his cousins and they play really well together.

Good Lord, I'm gonna miss him!!!

I guess I should have mentioned why she is watching him.

This summer, to help bring in the funds, I have increased my hours spent with the autistic boy. He is out of school and needs extra help throughout the day. I have picked up hours on Tuesdays as well as Thursdays and Fridays.

So, while it is time out of the house, it will be spent "shadowing" another little boy.

But, thanks everyone for the great comments!

Homeschooling

I have seriously been considering homeschooling my son. I have been thinking about it a lot recently and I think it would be the best thing to do. You see, we don't live in the best school district. It was my hubby's district while growing up and he doesn't want our son to spend even one year in this particular school...and I agree.

We would love to send our son to a private Christian school. I was in one for my high school years and I loved (almost) every minute of it. It would be great if my son could experience this as well. But, it is way to expensive! My hubby and I just don't have any extra $200-300 a month to send our son. We can barely get by on what little we have.

Since we don't plan on moving for another two years, I have been thinking about teaching him(my son) myself. I'm just not sure if I'm up to the task. I know I could, but is this really something that my son could respond to? He is very smart for his age(at least that's what his pediatrician said) and I don't want mess him up for life by teaching him at home.

I just want to be 100% sure on this decision...to have no doubts.

Incidentally, the first year was great but the second was really hard. I just don't have the follow through that's needed for homeschooling. He's going to private school next year.

The Graduation

Since my sis and I both got off of work around 4, we decided to be the first ones(of our family)to get to the Schottensteins Center to save(17) seats. We got there around 5:30 and had to stand outside till the doors opened at 6. As soon as those doors were open, my sis and I(with a back-pack on and a 40 pound three year old in my arms) ran down the hallway passing several people along the way.

We ended up getting the best seats possible to see my brother. And he looked so good!!! When I first saw him walking to his seat, I actually teared up. I was(and am) so proud of him!

It was a pretty long ceremony(over three hours) with over 400 graduates in his class. My brother and hubby kept text messaging each other to pass the time. And, my son was very well behaved the entire time. He sat quietly in someone's lap while watching the Seniors hit around beach balls(which they weren't even allowed to have).

Here is a pic of my bro, on the left, with his two good friends. The one in the middle got "lei-d" right after the ceremony!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Here is my bro holding my son. That's my hand in the pic since my son didn't want to wear the hat...he wanted his uncle to wear it.

And here is one more of my gorgeous brother...and oh yeah...that's me on the right. Don't we look so good together?!

Life is grand with a graduated little brother.

A Grad Party

I have so much to write about that I don't feel like writing at all...but here goes.

Yesterday was my bro's graduation party. I was in charge of making fruit salad and about 300 chocolate graduation hats(along with buying all the napkins and candy for the pary). My hubby and started on the hats around 6 pm the night before. After 5 hours of work, we had about 275 little hats.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The peanut butter cups(and Rolos) were unwrapped, dipped in chocolate and placed on a gram square. Then long pieces of pull apart twizzlers were also applied after having a tassel cut into one end. It was a long and tedious process!!!

On party day, we(my hubby, son, and I) made sure to get over to my mom's early to help set up and clean(we got there about 9am). I was sent to the finished part of the basement to pick up and dust. Then I got on my hands and knees and cleaned all the tile floor in the third floor(of a split level house).

After setting up three large tents and several folding tables and chairs, a few of us left the house to pick up food, the cake, balloons, and lunch. When we got back, my sis and I decided to decorate my bro's car. We tied on balloons and wrote all over his car windows(it's too bad it rained later and washed all of our hard work off).

Around 3:30, we started getting the food and drinks out. By 4 the house was beginning to fill with tons of people. I decided to stay in the kitchen to help(I didn't have to since my mom's best friend was assigned this task) with all the behind the scenes work(what I'm good at). So I filled the cups with ice, replenished the food, napkins, cups, forks, and candies, was the food runner(since the extra food was down in the basement) and the cake cutter, etc, etc. It was def a two person job so I'm glad that I was willing and able to help.

The party ended up being a success! There was plenty of food and fun. My brother had a wonderful time making the conversation rounds with my mother.

My family of three ended up staying till 10 so that I could clean up the kitchen, family room, and living room. I didn't want my mother to have to do any of that.

Tomorrow's post will have pics from my brother's graduation ceremony...he is too cute!!!
