Water Off A Duck's Back

My hubby often times tells me that I can be to sensitive...to everything! This includes the times he says or does something wrong and I won't just let it go immediately and forget out it. I'm just supposed to get over it and move on instead of dealing with the problem.

I also get a bit ruffled when people criticize me. This past Sunday my mom made a sarcastic comment about a shirt I was wearing (which happens to be one of my hubby's favorite shirts). It was really mean of her, but I couldn't just let it roll off my back. I made an equally sarcastic comment back (something about how at least my shirt isn't so ugly that you are giving me your credit card to get a new one...which she did for my sis about 2 weeks ago), but I couldn't forget what she said. My hubby told me once again to get over it, but I am still dwelling on it. I now have to be careful what I wear around her so I don't get criticized again.

I take anything that is said to me very personal. One of my love languages is words of affirmation, so when I hear a mean comment about myself, it hits pretty hard. I knew I shouldn't let people affect me like this, but I can't help it.

So my question to you is, when you do let a rude comment just slide off your back? All the time? When is it okay to retaliate (if ever)? And is it okay for me to want to deal with an issue/comment instead of letting it just slide?

(Btw, my hubby just surprised me by dropping off Walk the Line on DVD!!! He went out early this morning and bought it for me!!! How sweet! Thank you honeybabe!!!)

If I take offence to an officers comments, I say straight away that it's bothering me. That way I don't get worked up over it later.

Re: Rude people and comments, awww hon, this rots. I try my best to not let anything like that bother to me. It's hard, but try to think positive. Usually people severely rude have nothing else to live for except for others' misery, so I actually feel sorry for them. EXCEPT in the case of our mothers. What makes them think they can say whatever they want to us, not matter how hurtful? Hang in there. I get pretty peturbed by people at work...and my hubby can drive me sometimes...but really, life's too short to carry around that crap. ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR DAY!

I have the same problem dealing with criticism as well. I tend to take anything anyone says about me personally.

What we should be doing is to try to think of any criticism that comes our way as constructive criticism, which will help us improve ourselves. The other thing we could do is to keep our sense of humor. If someone is really out to hurt us, then we should learn to laugh about it instead of getting worked up over it.

At the end of the day, we'll be happier and we won't spend the night awake ruminating over every little comment that's been made that day!

i guess it depends what's being said and by whom. i can't imagine my mother ever saying anything rude to me like that, i would be devasted, mostly because she's my mom, moms shouldn't say stuff like that. she might not be aware of what she's doing, instead of saying some back to her, i would probably have asked her why she said that, and that i felt it was hurtful.

Blogger Chrixean said...

We have the same love language, so it really is a big deal for me to constantly get affirmation by people around me. I am guilty of this "fault/flaw" as well. I easily get hurt by nasty comments (whether intentional or not), but knowing my personality, I NEVER let anything just roll off me without letting the person know first that he / she said something hurtful. But what I do now is think first of whether the person who said these things is actually someone important to me or not. By doing this, I am able to limit my negative reactions. If it's a good friend or a loved one, I get deeply hurt and I need time to heal before I can tell the person how I felt. But when it's someone I don't really care about or know, I just let the whole thing slide because his/her opinions don't matter to me.

Hope i helped...in some tiny way, hehe.

I read something somewhere that said negative comments always really reflect the person giving them more than the person they are talking to. So I don't mind when people make them because they are revealing their weaknesses to me. Muhahahahaha!

March 01, 2006 5:10 AM

Blogger Unknown said...

It used to bother me when people made a comment I thought was rude. I mean really bother me. Then I was getting so parinoid and was reading into what people were saying. Then I got sick of it. Sick of wondering what people thought or was saying about me.

In the last five years or so, I just blow it off. Maybe it comes with age. I don't know. Sometimes, things still get to me, but I remind myself to leave it alone. And I try to think of something else.

Another thing, if someone tells me something like what your mom said, I tell them if it hurt my feelings. That usually puts them in their place.

There is a time once a month where I don't have much of a sense of humor Cinthia...heehee!

I love the shirt Texas, but I hate it that my mom doesn't. I don't know why I let her affect me so. (Btw, I love your holes comment...very funny!!!)

Thanks Day!

I should have asked her BSTS...I might just ask her tonight.

Right Chrixean, how are people supposed to know they really hurt me if I get over things quickly???

Finally, The Weekend!!!

Yes, the weekend is finally here!!! I can't wait to just relax and take it easy tomorrow.

Sunday won't be relaxing since we are celebrating a few anniversaries and birthdays with my dad's side of the family. There is always stress and guilt trips when it comes to them. And my grandma loves to give back-handed compliments where you are not sure to say thank you or not. But, at least they are entertaining...heehee!!!

Btw, I actually bought some fruit the other day. Usually my hubby and I can't afford to buy a lot of fruits, but I've been craving strawberries. So I finally got some...and some grapes as well!

I can't even begin to tell you how good the fruit tasted! It felt like I was spoiling myself! I even put some grapes in the freezer...they are sooooo good that way! It's like eating a popsicle!!! Yummy!

So, any big plans this weekend?

2. My favorites are cutie pie Ace,
3. Past bar singer Chris,

8. I might just have to get my hubby to record it tonight. I hate all the stupid commercials and it would be nice to fast forward through them (thanks for the idea Shannon!).

Oh, yeah, Ace is a cutie patooty booty! Love him!

Chris is also very good. And for some reason, I like the one that looks sort of like a hobbit, Will. He was just fun to watch last night.

As for Sway, I don't care for him. He forgot all of his words in the Hollywood auditions (the judges have gotten rid of people in the past for such a thing). I thought the falsetto thing he did last night was crap! I didn't like it at all and I was quite suprised that the judges all seemed to like it!

I fear they may be trying to stear the audience towards him because a)he's a guy and it's time for another male idol winner, and b)we haven't had anyone from his ethnicity win yet.

So, there's my opinion, if you care.

I really didn't understand why Sway sang so high! I was in shock! I don't think he did that great of a job, but I like his normal range of singing. I just want to hear him one more time to see what his normal voice is.

But, I think it's is time for the men to step up and win for once...heehee!

American Idol

Are any of you AI fans? I def am, but I'm starting to re-think it. This week there will be 5 hours of AI! To me, that's just insane!!! I spent two hours watching it last night, and while it was entertaining, I felt that there were so many other things I could have spent my time on. Come on now, two hours is a long time!

Things I could have done instead:
-Wash my hair 8 times
-Clean out the litter box 24 times
-Go to the bathroom 180 times
-Color my hair twice
-Change 80 diapers
-Watch my Tae-Bo tape 6 times
-Post on my blog 4 times
-Fold 360 towels
-Brush my teeth 60 times
-Clean 20 toilets
- Take 3 long cat naps

See, I wasted so much time watching AI! But what will I be doing tonight? Watching two more hours of AI...ahhhh, such is life.

15
Blogger Pete said...

But, do you *need* to go to the bathroom 180 times?

Yeah, even with 2 hours last night, they could have had the girls the first hour and the guys the second hour. They have WAY too many commercials during that show.

Day Off

Yesterday was a wonderful day off for me. I slept in till 9am since my hubby took care of the boy till he had to go to work. Then my son and I relaxed all morning in our pj's. We watched a movie or two and then eventually got ready for the day around 2pm. After our showers, I figured I had better do something constructive, so I did some laundry while my son played on the computer.

We did end up getting out of the house around 7...to get some ice cream! After we got home, my brother calls me up (this time it's about 8) and asks if we have eaten yet. Isn't he so cute...thinking we haven't eaten our dinner by 8 at night?! Just adorable, heehee!!! Anyway, he came over and I cooked him up some food.

Then I ended up watching another movie before going to bed. Sounds like a pretty busy day, huh?! HA! I loved having a day of rest...it was wonderful!

Life is grand!
(Man, I haven't used that phrase in a while!)

Church

My husband and I have been attending the same church for the past few months. And I must say, I really am enjoying it! The music is fantastic! It's like going to a concert every week. The church has this amazing electric guitar player and he usually has a guitar solo every week...it's freakin awesome! The upbeat songs help get me get pumped up for the message.

The music, along with with my son's wonderful Sunday school class, the great pastor, and the friendly people (and the free coffee provided for during the service!), is just a little of what made my husband and I consider becoming members.

We knew that my old, stinky boss and his family had been attending for the past few weeks, but we didn't expect him and his wife to be in our membership class! Come to find out, they have only been attending the church for four weeks! To me, becoming a member of a church is a big deal...it's not something that should be rushed. But attending the class does not automatically make you a member, so I have no clue what their decision was.

I'm trying to stay positive about this, but it is so hard! I know that he needs to be in a good church, but why did it have to be mine? We sit on opposite sides during the service, but I don't ever like catching a glimpse of him!

Yes, he annoys me that much!

I wish I could roll this off my back. I want to not care that he is there. I feel like a terrible person for even being bothered that he is there. I just pray that I get over this soon.

Did you know that singing praise songs is the highest form of worship? Well, enjoy your church services and don't let the presence of your boss affect your day with the Lord.

Have a great week!

I understand your feelings. I was a little sad when my brother in law and his wife started to attend our church and I LOVE them. I felt like it was MY place to be me and worship without being scrutinized. They were my friends and then I had to share them. I got over it but then they switched churches!

Hang in there!

Wow, a church like that would get me to attend services. I'm not really into organized religion. I see my relationship with god as a personal thing. I always saw attend a church service is more of a social thing not a religous thing. What kinda church (denomination) is that?

Thanks for praying Amanda Sue.

Btw, it's a Southern Baptist church. We don't dress up, have pizza parties once a month, game nights twice a month, and have a frisbee (sp?) golf course! I love it!!!

I do have the "unique pleasure" of knowing the guy, too.

He isn't such a bad person. He is a crappy boss, but was a fairly nice guy, though he had a bit of a lying problem.

If I never knew him from work and only knew him from church, I could stand to attend church with him. Give him the best chance you can - it has been over 4 years.

Busy, Busy

Wow, I feel like I have so much to do today. I need to order the paper products for my son's birthday since I can't find any in stores...I just haven't seen any star shaped plates anywhere. I also need to catch up on some laundry and cleaning. I've been to tired recently to do anything, but today I actually have some energy. And, if I finish everything today, I can relax and enjoy my three day weekend! I'm so excited!!! I'll be able to sleep in till 9 on Monday!

Do you have any special plans for this weekend? Do you have Monday off?

For this weekend, I plan to do some shopping. It's my daughter's birthday on Sunday. Other than that, I also plan to burn some cds. Finished downloading songs of the 70s.

Hope you finish your birthday project this weekend.

Thurs. Thirteen

Trinity13's Thirteen Things

1. My cousin just had her a little boy! He was born at 11:58 on Valentine's Day!
2. My son has his hands named girl hand and guy hand. They play and fight together! It's so cute!!!
3. With girl hand and guy hand, my son is never bored! Even with no toys around, he still has his hands...heehee!
4. The autistic boy's mom is already putting together a summer schedule. Since her baby is due about that time, she is not sure she will need me...which would be a nice break!
5. I have only watched about 30 min of the Olympics, and that's only because my son loves the skiing. His favorite event is the high jump.
6. They are making all the townhomes in our phase into condos. This could be good or bad for us.
7. Bad because it could mean that my husband could lose his resident manager position and we would have to pay condo fees.
8. Good because we could own this place! And they are selling them for cheap, so we could get a great deal!!!
9. We didn't get to see American Idol tonight since the boy and I went out while the hubby went to a side job.
10. So I am looking forward to seeing it tonight!
11. My son is now wearing his daytime underwear at night...and he has been waking up dry! I'm so happy!!!
12. I have a headache
13. Time for meds!!!

Other 13ers!

Blogging Block

I'm stuck. I'm completely without inspiration! I hate this!!! I have no clue what to write about and it's driving me nuts! I'm hoping to have a real post later...but who knows what the day will bring.

So I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Btw, quick question: What would you do if your nasty, retarded old boss started attending your church? Would you be happy for them, or would you start to not look forward to going to church every week because seeing the old boss drives you nuts?

Valentine's Day

Tonight my hubby and I are just going to stay at home with our son and enjoy each other's company. We really don't feel like having a grandparent watch the boy and we both don't want to try to brave the crowds. So I will be making up a yummy pot roast with red potatoes and carrots. It's one of those all day in the oven meals, so that mean little effort on my part. I will just toss the food together in about 2 hours and then bake it for eight. I get to enjoy the smell all day!

My father-in-law asked if he could come over, but I don't think he realizes what today is. He usually comes over on Tuesdays anyway, so I really wouldn't mind if he joins us tonight. He doesn't need to be alone.

Do you have any special plans for tonight with your honey?

Btw, you have to try out this Valentine's letter generator (that I stole from Bag of Nothing...thanks!). Here is mine:

My dearest Hubby G,

How are doing my angel?

My sweet love, I want you to know that I love you dearly and I always will.

I absolutely LOVE your big bald head! I think its really cute and from a distance it looks like a baked bean. Don't take that the wrong way love, cos I actually love baked beans. Of course I wouldn't actually eat your bald head.

I love going out to the movies with you my love. I think its fantastic to watch you get excited about a film and then walk out of there when you realise there are no sex scenes or close-ups of peoples bums. Remember you did that in Star Wars? It was cute how you tried to get your money back and then failed. Oh I laughed!

My love for you is sweeter then sugar, and there is no other love for me ....well OK, I guess I also love my TV which, I understand is only a box containing silicon and bits of metal, but oh it brings me joy and just holding the remote control feels really nice in my hands, but we're not talking about that right now! (Besides the fact that I just mentioned it now, but that part was allowed because the context was a little bit relevant)

Hope you have a great Valentines Day my darling lover!

With all my heart,

Trin

oxoxo

Decision Finally Made!

After 2 weeks of debating, my hubby and I have finally decided to have our son's birthday here at the house. We were thinking about having it at a second run movie theatre, where we would have paid for everyone's ticket. The theatre was okay with me bringing in a cake and I was given a special (and cheap) price for kid's combo packs (that had popcorn and a drink). We wouldn't have known what movie we were going to see till a week ahead of time since they don't even know what movie they are getting in. But, it would have only cost about $125 for everything (including food, tickets, paper products, and gift bags)...and I think that's a pretty good deal.

But we have decided to have our son's 4th birthday party here at home. We are cutting down on the people we invite, so we should have enough room for everyone. We are still going to do a movie theme, so I hope I don't go overboard on the decorations. And I might even make the cake myself to save the $18 on a large sheet cake.

We are going to have it at dinner time, but we are going to serve movie theatre treats. So, I don't think the food is going to cost too much if I am creative.

I am so looking forward to this! I love planning and celebrating my son's birthdays!!! And I've got less than 3 weeks to plan, so I'm off! Have a great Monday!!!

That sounds like a great plan, and I'm glad you and your hubby have finally decided on it :-) I am having a difficult time deciding on where my son should celebrate his bday as well. He'll be turning 7 on March 19, and I wanted it to be a big deal by having it at a function hall, with a caterer and a magician, and some games and prizes -- if only it weren't so expensive! So i'll probably end up doing one here at home and one in his school... might end up to be more fun and less costly.

Sorry Day, I did read it wrong! My bad.

We are having all those food items Texas, except for the pickles. I think we are doing pretzel bites instead.

Will do PJ! Thanks!!!

Oh yes OGO! Can't wait!

I prob won't let the kids decorate anything BSTS, but I might just have to do cupcakes instead of a cake. Thanks!

I might make cupcakes Jen, and then put them in the shape of a star (part of the theme).

We can't do it outside FC, way too cold! In fact, it just snowed again yesterday.

We are having a movie theme MC. I sent out movie contracts as invites and we will have movie concession treats for dinner.

Wow, that sounds like a lot Chrixean! But I think that home sounds great as well!

Weekend Blogging

Do you know how hard it is for me to blog on the weekend? Recently my hubby and I have been so busy that it's hard to find time to get on the computer. There is just so many other things that need to be done.

For instance, I just had to get a nap in today. There was just no other way around it. And I had to do some shopping with my sister. I really had no choice in the matter. Then of course, I need to watch The Matrix on TV tonight. I have it on DVD so I can watch it anytime I want, but if it's on TV, it must be watched!

So, I've been a busy girl! There are sooooo many things that I need to get done! And I need to get back to my movie...so, later all!!! Have a great weekend!

Winter Olympics

The winter Olympics start tonight, but do I care...not really. I will actually probably forget about them unless there is nothing else to watch on TV. I think I'll just end up watching the highlights, unless I'm feeling warm. For some reason, I get really cold by watching the winter Olympics. Maybe it's all the snow and ice? Hmmmmm...could be, could be. :-)

Since I haven't done one of these in a while, and since it's been floating around, here is a quiz for ya! I def agree with the results since I don't do sports (unless you count Tae-Bo).

You Are Curling

What you lack in athleticism, you make up for in concentration.
And while curling isn't much more of a sport than bowling, you *can* win a gold medal for it!

I am hockey.

Tough, athletic, and not afraid of a fight.
You don't mind putting your body on the line!

I agree with that. I'm not in great shape, but I am pretty naturally athletic and do well at most sports that I participate in. And, I enjoy sports where you have to put your body on the line.

I probably will watch some of the Olympics if I stumble across it and am not doing much else. I like hockey, but will watch many sports just to root on the Americans!

The Producers

Image hosting by Photobucket

I really wanted to see The Producers after watching part of it at the Tony's. I laughed my butt off seeing the old ladies dance on stage...really funny! Then the movie came out, but we really didn't have the time to see it, and frankly, we forgot about it. So when I found out it was at the cheapo, I had to see it.

Image hosting by Photobucket

I was scared when it first started since I thought Matthew Broderick's character was really over acting. I understand that this was a theatre production made into a movie, but his performance was a little too much for me. It got better as the movie went on, so I ended up really liking the movie. My husband did as well. Since he used to be on the drama team in high school, he could appreciate all the work that was done in this production. My parents did not. They both didn't care for the movie at all and my dad just about walked out when Nathan Lane started singing. But in all fairness, I told them that the movie used to be on Broadway and that is was a musical.

So, my hubby and I really enjoyed this movie. Will we buy it when it comes out on DVD...probably not. Seeing it once was good enough for me, but it was def entertaining!

Btw, I had a hard time seeing Uma Thurman looking so cute, and singing so well! The last movie I saw her in was Kill Bill...where she kicked butt! And she most def didn't sing in that movie!!! Heehee!

Night Out

Every year my parents take me out for my birthday. I get to pick out where we are eating (no matter what the cost), and if there's time, a movie. It's one of my favorite traditions and my parents have it with my siblings as well. My brother and sister usually choose a really expensive restaurant and then they get the steak. They def take advantage of the free night!

I, on the other hand, am not like that. Last night I wanted to see a movie at the cheapo theater. To do that, we needed to eat someplace fast, so I picked out a buffet. My mom just about had a cow! She couldn't believe I wanted an Asian food buffet for my birthday dinner. She asked me why I wouldn't want a steak place. I told her that those places are too expensive and that most of the time I don't even get a steak when I go there...and it would be something quick. Well she wasn't happy, but she went along with it.

Here's the thing...even if I chose a more expensive restaurant, I would have ended up ordering the cheapest thing on the menu (with a water to drink of course). It's just what I do. I don't like spending a lot of money on myself, no matter what the occasion. It's just not in my nature. My hubby even told me that I pinch pennies so hard that boogers come out of Lincoln's nose!

So last night was a great night for me. We went to a really yummy restaurant and then saw a good, cheap movie (that my parents hated, but that's another blog post). It wasn't too much money out of my parent's pocket, so I didn't feel guilty afterwards. And I think the most important thing was being able to spend time with them...even though they complained! Heehee!!!

(Btw, thanks again Loelsh and Guru for watching the boy!)

Busy Weekend

Well I'm back after a busy weekend! My diet was pretty much ruined (after a pizza buffet, a trip to Taco Bell, Pizza Hut's new cheesy bites pizza, and Super Bowl party food), but I'm hoping to do better this week.

We had a great Super Bowl party last night! I made up some potato soup and we topped it with cheese, sour cream, real bacon bits, and scallions. We also had hot dogs and polish sausage dogs...so good, especially when topped with cheese! Then for dessert, I made up some apple cobbler (which we topped with ice cream) and a coffee chocolate cake that my hubby and I cut and iced to look like a football (and that was topped with coffee ice cream).

We had a pretty small party of only 7 people, but I think it was the perfect size. Too many more and some of us would have to watch the game on the smaller TV upstairs (as opposed to the the big screen in the basement). My sister and her guy came and it was great talking to them and seeing them together...such a cute couple!

Okay, on to more important things...the Super Bowl commercials! I think my favorite one was for the movie Poseidon. I happen to love the original movie, The Poseidon Adventure, so I can't wait to see the remake!

Oh yeah, the Steelers won!!! Yeah baby! I knew they could do it!

So how did your weekend go? Any over eating occur?

Hmmmm...

Since my son's fourth birthday is a month away, I have been thinking about what my hubby and I should put together for him. I have already chosen a theme, but I'm still not sure where we should have it.

On one hand, we can have it here at our house. The party could be in the evening and we would have to buy and prepare a lot of food for all the people we would invite. I have several things in mind for the kids to do, but the adults would probably be bored. It would take a lot of planning and effort on my part, but more people would be able to attend.

On the other hand, I have a place picked out to have a party. They would take care of preparing the food, which I would need to purchase, but the price is pretty reasonable. And I could possibly only buy for the kids if we go there. There is also entertainment for everyone (specific entertainment can not be determined till the week before the party), but we would need to be there by noon. That means that less people could come (ex: my parents) since it's not in the evening, but the place is a lot bigger than our home.

So I'm stuck. I need to make a decision soon since the invites need to be the mail next week. I'm a major planner, so not being able to decide is driving me nuts! And I'm getting mixed feedback from the people I do ask. My parents want it at the house (they love my party ideas for the house and they could come if it's here), but my hubby thinks it might be better to go to the entertainment place since it's less work and possibly less money out of pocket.

I just want to have a party that will please the most people. So what would you do in my position?

First of all you can't make EVERYONE happy. The only one I'd worry about is your son. What would make him happy?

Blogger Chrixean said...

That is my dilemma too actually. It's Nicky's birthday next month as well, and it's a big deal to people over here because the 7th birthday has to be a really BIG celebration. But i think i'd go with the party at a venue other than your house. Less work, less stress, more time to focus on the little details that will win your child's heart -- at the end of the day, the time to enjoy the party with your kid would outweigh the money saved.

Why not have two celebrations? Do one away from home for friends and kids, and another at home later for family.

Blogger YellowRose said...

Ok, you asked...My kids are now 17 and 20 so I've done the party thing many times over. I also have been planning parties for years for family and friends.

First, what do you want to do? What does you son want? That is what is the most important thing. It's his birthday and it's his day that he will remember. Also, at the age your son is, you don't have to go "BIG" at least not yet. ;) Do one or two things that stand out, like rent a bouncy house or have a clown come....something different. But whatever you do, do it for him and don't worry about pleasing everyone on the guest list...they will be happy no matter what you choose to do, because after all, it's all about your son!

Hope this helps alittle!!

Michele sent me your way to give you my 2 cents worth! ;)

I agree with nic...what do you think your son wants? I bet a pinata is in his head! :) Don't worry about the adults...this is your son's party. Play pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs, and give prizes. The pinata is always a blast as a last big event before everyone goes home. (Just make sure the kids stay in line and away from the swinging stick!)

Have fun! (My son's 5th birthday is in 4 days!)

I would prefer not to hold a party. A trip to a place he has never been will be a better way to celebrate. He will surely enjoy the the ride, the new places and things he will encounter.

Have a great weekend!

Blogger Bud said...

My memories have always started late into my fourth year. Most people I talk to are amazed i can remember back that far. I have no recollection of any birthday parties. I think such parties for kids that young are actually for the adults as they will remember. Your four yeear old will have fun getting attention no matter where you do it. But there is a high probability he won't remember the details. Adults who got left out will remember being left out. Tread carefully here.

February 04, 2006 6:09 AM

Blogger Leslie said...

hmmm, I've only ever done house parties but that's because it was way cheaper than somewhere else. But I usually tend to do whatever is less work and cheaper :)

Maybe have it at home but go easy on food and such so it is not so expensieve. I've always had my parties between meals so I only provide snacks instead of meals.

Or, if the weather is right, BBQ's are great and cheap if you stick with the basics!

Stress...Already?

I have already managed to make my hubby upset today. He got me this great gift and all I should have done was be happy about it. But no, I was just too honest with him and I had to ask him if he kept the receipt (see numbers 8 & 9 with this post), after saying thank you of course.

So now he is upset and stressed out that he once again didn't get me the right gift. It's my own fault really. I expect too much.

See, this is why I hate celebrating my day. And I hope that next year he'll either not give me anything, or just take me out and let me buy something with him.

Btw, maybe I should have just waited a day to ask him for the receipt. Hmmmm...

Oh, and I say keep the gift. It's your birthday present from your hubby. Don't worry for once about how much it costs and just let him do something nice for you. At least he remembered your birthday, which is more than some people can say, right?

If you weren't able to pay your rent, car payments, bills and groceries and he got you something frivolous, that would be different.

See that is why I say expectations are just recentments in the waiting.

I think you should have just said thanks and left it at that.

I think that is why my husband never buys me anything.

Keep it! You deserve to get spoiled now and then! At least that is what my husband tells me when I complain about money he spent on me!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday. I'd say you could have waited a little bit before asking for the receipt. He likes to try to spoil you. Price is no object for the woman he loves, etc.

I think you should have tried to find the receipt on the downlow and then taken it back. Remember that episode of Friends when everyone found out that Rachel takes her gifts back and exchanges them every year? She got what she wanted and they were none the wiser!

Happy Birthday, Trinity!

Well, looking at your hubby's side, he may have gotten hurt with your reaction. A gift is a gift, so just accept it. Like I told you before, best not to expect anything from husbands, really. If they get you what you want, then that's great. If not, let's just be happy that they even remembered to get us anything! There are women out there whose husbands completely disregard their wives' birthdays! (And i do have girlfriends who have this to complain about their hubby!)

Anyway, enjoy the day! Make peace with your hubby! :-)

Happy b'day!

And let me just say this. I was married and my ex-wife put exactly no thought and no effort into my b'day gifts one year. I had to go out and buy my own presents, wrap them for her and given them to myself at my "party" so as to not embarasss her in front of her family. This was after I cleaned the house, made my own b'day dinner meal, bought my own cake. So, please, appreciate the fact that your husband tried and actually got out there and got you something.

I would love a gift card from him PJ!

I can't help but wonder about the cost Lo...it's what I do! I'm a real penny pincher.

Sometimes I wish he wouldn't buy me anything Day...would make for less stress.

Thanks Mrs. T, Jana, Barbara, Charm, and Meeta.

I don't like being spoiled OGO...that's the problem! :-P

If price is not object Guru, then where's my birthday cruise? HA!

I was hurt with him getting it Chrixean...remember I did say that I didn't want him getting that gift for me-it was too much. But it's taken care of now! Thanks!!

Wow...you had it rough Michael! But I appreciate the thought...I just don't want the gift! Heehee!!!
